Winston Allan White, a lifelong resident of New London, Ohio before moving to Fort Myers, FL in 2024, passed away peacefully at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, FL on January 17, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 22, 1943, Winston was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was marked by love, generosity, and a deep commitment to his community.

Winston graduated from New London High School in 1961, attended Ohio University, then joined the Air National Guard before he joined his father, Wilmer, at White Trucking Company. In 1970, Winston became the Mayor of New London where he successfully led the appropriation and construction of the New London Reservoir and subsequently served as a founding member on the New London Reservoir Control Board. Winston owned and operated the New London Auto Parts store in the 1990s, oversaw the construction of the White Screw Products building, and worked with his son at Stone Age Creations. Winston was a pillar of the community and proud to call New London his home. He is known for his sense of humor, work ethic and drive and earned the respect and admiration from those that knew him. He was always quick to volunteer and offer help to those around him.

Above all, Winston cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Glenna ‘Vicki’ White, aged 72, who resides in Fort Myers, FL; three children: Heather Glorene Brendle (Grady G. Johnson) of Bristow, VA, Heath Allan White (Marianna White) of New London, OH and Jason Lee White (Amy White) of Hilliard, OH; three stepchildren: Tammy Garland of Wake Forest, NC, Christopher Gibson of Cleveland, OH, and Jason Gibson (Renee Gibson) of Lexington, SC.

He is also the proud grandfather to Johnathan Brendle (Jonathan Walsh), Katharine Chinchilla (Rolin Chinchilla), Elisabeth Brendle, Samantha Peters (Johnathan Peters), Nicholas Brendle (Zenab Brendle), Miklos White (Fedra Vincze), Bryanna Hall (Spencer Hall), and Emily White, as well as his step-grandchildren Jade McCormack (Josh McCormack), Keely Albrecht (Trey Albrecht), Lydia Johnson (Nick Denecke), and Chelsea and Aaron Kent. Additionally, he leaves behind step-grandchildren Jaden and Jacob Gibson, as well as great-grandchildren Leah, Rylin and Asher Chinchilla, Sophia Brendle and Hudson Dalton, and step-great-grandchildren Renley Denecke and Jack McCormack.

Winston is also survived by his brother Wilmer E. White, Jr. (Linda Kay White) of New London, OH and a host of extended family and friends who will forever remember his kindness, wisdom, and infectious smile.

Winston was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer E. White, Sr in 1986 and Glorene B. ‘Coleman’ White in 1967 of New London, Ohio, and his siblings, Rodney C. White in 1931, Rochelle G. ‘White’ Edgington in 1986, and Gaylord C. White in 2013.

Winston will be cremated and laid to rest in the Grove Street Cemetery, New London. A celebration of Winston’s life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 4pm at the Hileman Building, 2 Blake St., New London, OH. A small graveside service will be held at 1pm for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the New London Historical Society, 13 East Main St., New London, OH, via PayPal at @nlareahistoricalsoc on his behalf.

Winston Allan White will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His commitment to his community and his love for his family will be remembered for generations to come.
